What’s New In?

Android onReceiveListener doesn’t always get the message

I am implementing a service on a Samsung S3 with Android 4.2.2. This service is registered in the manifest, however the onReceive() method is never called. I have read various sources that say this is a known issue with Android 4.2, but nothing specific to my situation.
I have modified the Java source for the service, so I know that it is being registered on the service manager. The code for the onReceive() method follows:
public void onReceive(Context context, Intent intent) {
Log.d(“MessageReceiver”, “Received message”);

I am using the sample code located here:
The service is registered like so:

I have a separate broadcast receiver that sends messages to this service, and in my service I can see that the broadcast receiver is actually firing (it sends a message to my service, but onReceive is never called).
My question is, why is this service not calling the onReceive() method for the custom broadcast receiver?

It is an issue in Android 4.2. The solution is to add the service to a list in your receiver.
Btw, there are alternative methods to receive messages, for example

System Requirements:

OS: Mac OS X 10.7 or later
Processor: Dual core 2.5GHz or faster
Memory: 2 GB
Graphics: 512 MB
Storage: 100 MB
Additional Notes:
How to install APK File:
1. Download App from Google Play.
2. Press and hold on the app for 5 seconds.
3. Wait until you see the popup with ‘Open from Android Store’
4. Navigate to your Downloaded Folder.
5. Tap on
