Tick-borne pathogens of dogs and ticks in Puerto Rico.
A total of 651 ticks were collected from dogs in two municipalities in Puerto Rico. There were 588 (91%) Ixodes scapularis, 10 (1.5%) Dermacentor variabilis, and 53 (8.1%) Amblyomma americanum. Of 39 ticks that tested positive for Rickettsia spp., 17 (43.6%) were I. scapularis, 15 (38.5%) D. variabilis, and 7 (17.9%) A. americanum. In three I. scapularis that had Rickettsia spp. in the salivary glands, the concentration of organisms ranged from 32 to 333 amastigotes/0.00011 mm(3) gland. The Rickettsia spp. were antibody-reactive with R. rickettsii-, R. akari-, R. parkeri-reactive antigens and R. conorii-reactive antigens. The recombination/DNA polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assays produced one 487 bp and two 378 bp amplicons in all the Rickettsia spp. samples tested. DNA sequencing of the 378 bp amplicon from one I. scapularis, one D. variabilis, and one A. americanum were 100% identical to R. rickettsii (Lin et al. 1999). The paper shows a higher prevalence of Rickettsia spp. in I. scapularis than in any other tick species examined and the first detected R. rickettsii in I. scapularis in Puerto Rico.Q:

I am trying to avoid retyping my ssh [email protected] command each time I log in to my server and want to try and get the results of my last command. I thought that ~/.bashrc would do the trick, but this does not seem to be the case.
